Meuspath. Manthey is expanding its product portfolio in the road cars division with a lightweight wheel set for the Porsche 911 GT3 (992.2). Developed in close cooperation with the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach and manufactured in Manthey's own forged wheel production facility in Freudenstadt, the new wheel set offers improved rigidity with significantly reduced weight and is designed for higher aerodynamic loads. The wheel set is now available worldwide and can be covered by the Porsche Approved Warranty. It complements the range of lightweight wheels already available for the 911 Carrera and Turbo models as well as the 718 Cayman GT4.

Performance increase for the new 911 GT3

Through lightweight construction developed in numerous simulations and tests, the weight of the unsprung and rotating masses has been reduced by six kilograms compared to the standard wheels, resulting in faster response of the suspension and even better vehicle control. The weight reduction was achieved through specific material reductions in both the spoke design and around the centre lock. At the same time, the design allows for over 20 per cent higher wheel loads and significantly improves bending and torsional stiffness in order to prepare the forged aluminium wheel set for higher aerodynamic loads.

Manufacturer's warranty through extensive testing

The lightweight wheel set for the 911 GT3 (992.2) has been extensively tested and approved in accordance with the manufacturer's comprehensive regulations. As part of this process, around 40 wheels are tested in various scenarios for stiffness, resistance and running accuracy, among other things. In addition, the strength of the wheels was tested during the industrial test drives on the Nordschleife. The wheel set meets the criteria of an official OEM product and does not require individual approval or registration for road use in accordance with road traffic regulations. Furthermore, the wheel set can be covered by the Porsche Approved Warranty as an official Porsche vehicle accessory component.

The wheel set has the same dimensions of 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear like the series car and is designed for tyre sizes 255/35 ZR20 (front) and 315/30 ZR21 (rear). The wheel set is now available worldwide in the colours Brilliant Silver, Neodyme and Black.

Since opening our forged wheel production facility in Freudenstadt at the beginning of last year, we have developed lightweight wheel sets for various 911 Carrera and GT models in collaboration with Porsche – but with the wheel set for the GT3, we are going one step further. Not only have we managed to reduce the weight significantly, but we have also improved the rigidity.
