- Ricardo Feller finished third and 13th in the sprint races at the Lausitzring
- Thomas Preining brings home a tenth and twelfth place
- On Sunday, the Manthey pit crew clocked the fastest tyre change of the day
Manthey secured a podium finish with Ricardo Feller at the third DTM race weekend of the season at the Lausitzring. Starting from 16th on the grid, the Porsche driver fought his way up to third place in Saturday’s race. For the Swiss driver, this marks his first joint podium with Manthey and Porsche in the sprint series. On Sunday, he crossed the finish line in 13th place, securing a further three championship points. Meanwhile, Thomas Preining (Austria) finished in the points in both races. After crossing the line in twelfth position on Saturday, the 2023 DTM champion came tenth on Sunday, securing a total of ten points for the drivers’ championship. As was the case at Zandvoort, the team’s pit crew celebrated the fastest tyre change of the day on Sunday (6.301 seconds), having completed the second-fastest pit stop the previous day (6.245 seconds). Following the results of the race weekend in Brandenburg, Manthey sits fourth in the DTM team standings with 97 championship points after six of sixteen races this season. Thomas Preining is seventh in the drivers’ championship with 56 points, whilst Ricardo Feller is eleventh (42 points).
"It was a difficult weekend for us at the Lausitzring, with a few positive highlights. Of course, the podium finish we secured with Ricardo deserves special mention. We’re delighted to have celebrated our first podium finish with him in just the fifth race of the season. The result was helped by the race situation surrounding the full-course yellow phase, which was called at precisely the moment we had already turned into the pit lane for a tyre change. Ultimately, our strategic plans, combined with a good performance from the pit crew and Ricardo, was rewarded with a well-deserved podium finish. Another very positive aspect is that we were clearly among the fastest during the pit stops in both races and were able to demonstrate our quality in this area once again. Apart from that, however, we struggled in the races and were unable to achieve the positions we had set out to achieve on our own merits. At the moment, it is difficult for us to fight for the top points-scoring positions in the DTM. We’ll analyse the reasons for this in detail and aim to finish in better positions again at the Norisring", explains Patrick Arkenau, Director Racing of the Manthey Racing GmbH.
In less than two weeks, the DTM teams will be heading to Nuremberg’s Norisring for the next round of the season (3–5 July 2026). Ahead of the two sprint races on the DTM season’s only street circuit, Manthey will also be fielding two cars in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup at the Six Hours of The Glen (25–28 June).
Quotes on the DTM race weekend at the Lausitzring:
Ricardo Feller, Porsche 911 GT3 R #90: “It’s great to have secured my first podium finish with Manthey and Porsche. Of course, we had a bit of luck, but you’ve got to take that as it comes, and at the end of the day, it’s valuable points for the championship. On Sunday, we weren’t able to move any further up the field. In the end, 13th place was the best we could manage. Generally speaking, we’re growing closer and closer as a team and it’s great fun working together. What the crew consistently delivers in the pit lane and at the pit wall is impressive. I’m looking forward to the Norisring.”
Thomas Preining, Porsche 911 GT3 R #91: “A frustrating weekend. We had a good car and I felt very comfortable and confident on track. Unfortunately, though, we simply lacked pace in the race and really struggled in the battles. I think we made the most of the results, that was all we could achieve. In the championship, we’re still in a decent position, 20 points off the top, but ultimately our points haul this weekend wasn’t enough. A big thank you goes to the team for their great work during the pit stops. I hope we can move further up the field again at the Norisring to stay in touch with the championship leaders.”
