Closer to perfection
Manthey concludes the first half of the DTM season with four points-scoring finishes at the Norisring
Racing | DTM
  • Thomas Preining finishes ninth twice in Nuremberg
  • Ricardo Feller crosses the finish line in twelfth place in both sprint races
  • On Sunday, the Manthey pit crew carried out the fastest tyre change of the day

At the Norisring, the only street circuit of the DTM season, Manthey finished in the points four times during the fourth of eight race weekends in 2026. Porsche works driver Thomas Preining (Austria), who lined up in 15th and 11th on the grid for the races on the 2.2-kilometre circuit, took the chequered flag in ninth place on both days. His team-mate Ricardo Feller (Switzerland) finished twelfth on both occasions, having started the races from 17th and 18th place. The pit crew from Meuspath built on their strong performances from previous race weekends and, following successes at Zandvoort and the Lausitzring, also secured the fastest tyre change of the field in Sunday’s race in Nuremberg with a time of 6.562 seconds. With 119 points, Manthey sits sixth in the DTM team standings at the halfway point of the sprint season. In the drivers’ championship, Thomas Preining is eighth with 70 points after eight of the 16 races this season, whilst Ricardo Feller is 13th with 50 points.

“It’s been a challenging weekend for us in Nuremberg. Following the wins and podium finishes we’ve achieved on this street circuit in previous years, we’d set our sights much higher. This year, however, we’ve lacked the pace in every session to keep up with the competition. That’s frustrating for the drivers and the whole team, especially as the 2026 sprint season hasn’t gone to plan so far. Nevertheless, after the first eight races, we can be proud of our performances. I certainly am. Even if this isn’t always reflected in the results, every single person has given their best at all times,” explains Patrick Arkenau, Director Racing at Manthey Racing GmbH. “Our pit crew once again put in a strong performance at the Norisring. With the fastest tyre change on Sunday and further excellent pit stops, we have once again demonstrated our quality in this area. The fact that we have been performing consistently at this level for years makes me very proud,” explains Martin Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH. “A lot of hard work goes into these performances. That’s all the more reason why I would have liked to see the team rewarded with more successful race results. Unfortunately, the quick pit stops and good strategies weren’t enough to secure better placings than ninth and twelfth,” concludes Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH.

The next sprint race weekend will take the DTM teams to Oschersleben in three weeks’ time (24-26 July 2026). Ahead of that, Manthey will be competing in the next round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in São Paulo, Brazil, as early as next week (1012 July 2026).

Quotes on the DTM race weekend at the Norisring:

Ricardo Feller, Porsche 911 GT3 R #90: “The weekend at the Norisring didn’t go quite as we’d hoped. At least we managed to pick up a few points on two occasions, but we’re still not satisfied with that. The team did a great job once again, though. A big thank you goes to the whole crew. I really appreciate all their hard work and, now that the first half of the season is over, I feel very much at home at Manthey.”

Thomas Preining, Porsche 911 GT3 R #91: “Given our past successes at the Norisring, I had high hopes for the weekend and was keen to fight for my fourth win at this event. Last year, we managed to secure two podium finishes here. This year, however, we simply couldn’t keep up with the competition for the top places on the track. It was only in the pits that we were able to make up some time - a big thank you to the team for that. The strategies were always spot on and the pit stops, especially on Sunday, were simply world-class. I’m proud to be part of this strong team and would have liked to see better results for all of us in Nuremberg.”
