Meuspath. Porsche has announced the team for the new LMGT3 class in the FIA WEC World Endurance Championship: From 2024, Manthey will field two Porsche 911 GT3 R in the international endurance series. Decisive for Porsche's decision were the extensive experience in the world championship as well as the successful appearances in some of the biggest GT3 races in the world. Driver and team entry for the upcoming WEC season will be announced at a later date.

The FIA World Endurance Championship WEC completes its transition to FIA GT3 category cars next year. Until the current 2023 season, Manthey has successfully fielded two Porsche 911 RSR in the GTE-Pro class of the FIA WEC Endurance Championship on behalf of Porsche for ten years. In their first year of racing together (2013), they clinched class victory at Le Mans. Two more followed, so that together with its debut victory in 1999, Manthey now has four Le Mans victories with a GT car and a total of five world championship titles in the World Endurance Championship. In the current season, vehicles in the GTE category, which includes the Porsche 911 RSR, are only allowed in the amateur class (GTE-Am). From 2024 onwards, only vehicles from the new LMGT3 class will be allowed in the GT grid, including the latest-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R with up to 415 kW (565 hp). Each interested manufacturer will therefore only be allocated two grid slots. The selected team(s) will compete in the coming season after the WEC has confirmed the entry. Porsche has chosen Manthey for sporting, strategic and historical reasons.

After the end of the factory racing commitment, Manthey will return to the World Endurance Championship after one year and also to the 24 Hours of Le Mans to once again fight for victories and championships in the GT class. Under which team name and with which drivers Manthey will compete in 2024 will be announced at a later date. Manthey EMA's involvement in the DTM will continue in the upcoming season. In addition, the partnership between the Melbourne-based team and Manthey will see the 12-hour race at Bathurst and the 24-hour race on the Nordschleife.

"I am proud that we are returning to the WEC Endurance Championship, expanding our GT3 programme next year. We have already been able to celebrate some successes in the WEC with Porsche and have a lot of experience and know-how regarding the tracks and procedures. The 2024 season will be exciting and I am very glad that we will be back at Le Mans," explains Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH, "in addition to the current motorsport season, we now need to strengthen our team for 2024. With the Porsche 911 GT3 R competing in two racing series as well as endurance classics such as the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring or the 12-hour race at Bathurst, we have a busy schedule ahead of us."
