- Thomas Preining finishes seventh and eighth in the DTM races in Zandvoort
- Ricardo Feller brings home tenth place twice in the Netherlands
- On Sunday, the team's pit crew performs the fastest tire change of the day
Zandvoort. At the DTM race weekend in the Netherlands, Manthey secured four top-ten finishes, earning valuable championship points with both Porsche 911 GT3 R during the second of eight race weekends in the 2026 sprint season. Starting from tenth on the grid, Thomas Preining (Austria) moved up to seventh place on Saturday and also took home points on Sunday with an eighth-place finish. Ricardo Feller (Switzerland) finished tenth twice in the dunes of Zandvoort, having started from eleventh position on Saturday and sixteenth on Sunday. The pit crew of the Meuspath-based team also scored a success: On Sunday, they achieved the fastest tire change of the day in 6.133 seconds for the car with starting number 90. After the first four races of the season in Austria and the Netherlands, Manthey now ranks fifth in the DTM team standings (68 points). Thomas Preining is in fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 46 points, while Ricardo Feller holds eleventh place (23 points).
"Unfortunately, we weren’t able to maximize our performance in the first qualifying session, and we only secured starting positions ten and eleven. However, during the relatively uneventful race, we were able to capitalize on our strengths in strategy and pit stops and make up ground with both cars. In Sunday’s qualifying session, Thomas put together a strong lap and secured a good starting position with seventh place. Unfortunately, due to traffic and because our qualifying strategy didn’t quite work out, Ricardo could only manage 16th place. The race started well for us, and we were able to work our way up to fourth and ninth places with both drivers, through good performances both on the track and in the pitlane. As the race progressed, however, the performance of our cars was unfortunately compromised: Car No. 90 sustained damage from a collision with a competitor during the safety car phase, through no fault of our own. After the second pit stop, Thomas encountered traffic in the fast lane and made contact with Mirko Bortolotti in the Lamborghini. This damaged his car as well, which ultimately cost us positions. Instead of moving up toward the podium, he unfortunately dropped back. That’s a shame, because third place was definitely within reach. Considering the starting position, Ricardo ultimately achieved a solid top-ten result", explains Patrick Arkenau, Director Racing of the Manthey Racing GmbH.
"Basically, we had hoped for better results this weekend at Zandvoort. While we were able to stay in contention for the championship lead with Thomas, we unfortunately didn’t manage to finish on the podium. We had also set higher goals for Ricardo during his second sprint race weekend with the team. In the end, however, we’re taking away the fact that we scored points in both races with both cars, which is very important in terms of the championship," summarizes Martin Raeder, Managing Director of the Manthey Racing GmbH. "Now we’re looking ahead to the Lausitzring, where we want to fight for victories again and close the gap to the front of the standings with both cars," adds Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of the Manthey Racing GmbH.
For the next two races of the season, the DTM calendar takes the teams to the Lausitzring from June 19 to 21. Before that, Manthey will travel to France to compete for its third consecutive LMGT3 class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 10–14, 2026).
Quotes on the DTM race weekend in Zandvoort:
Ricardo Feller, Porsche 911 GT3 R #90: "It was a mixed weekend - we had expected a bit more. Still, I was very happy with the car, and the team’s performance was, as always, great. I’m pleased that we found some extra performance compared to the Red Bull Ring, even if that isn’t entirely reflected in the results. The result in Saturday’s race was solid, and the championship points were very important. On Sunday, we unfortunately had a bit of bad luck with our position on the track during qualifying and, at the same time, tried something that didn’t quite work out. That can always happen, but we were able to make up for it in the race and secure another points finish. At the Lausitzring, the goal is, of course, to take another step forward."
Thomas Preining, Porsche 911 GT3 R #91: "On Saturday, after a difficult qualifying session, we worked our way up the field thanks to a good strategy, pit stops, and a strong start, securing some important points. Qualifying on Sunday went better, with a seventh-place finish. After the start, we were quickly up to fifth and were then in contention for the podium. Unfortunately, after the second pit stop, there was a collision with another car in the pit lane. That can just happen anytime, since the pit lane at Zandvoort is very narrow. The car was unfortunately damaged in the incident. So, the only thing that mattered then was to stay in the race and bring the car home. I’m glad we still managed to score some good points for the championship in the end."
