- 24-hour special livery for cars #91 and #92 in celebration of Porsche Motorsport’s and Manthey’s anniversary year
- Design incorporates Porsche’s first class victory in 1951 alongside current livery elements of the Manthey DK Engineering and The Bend Manthey WEC entries
- Manthey targets a third consecutive LMGT3 class victory in 2026
Meuspath. Manthey will present its two Porsche 911 GT3 R with a special livery at the 24 Hours of Le Mans together with Porsche Motorsport. The No. 91 and No. 92 entries of Manthey DK Engineering and The Bend Manthey will contest the 94th edition of the legendary race in a design inspired by the sporting heritage of Porsche Motorsport. The livery combines design elements of Porsche’s first class-winning car from 1951 with current visual features of the Manthey-run WEC cars. Therefore, Manthey is returning to the Circuit de la Sarthe as the undefeated team since the LMGT3 category was introduced - sporting a distinctive look and with a clear objective in mind.
From the first class victory to today: a design with history
The base design of the two Porsche 911 GT3 R cars is derived from the silver Porsche 356 SL, which secured Porsche’s first class victory at the French endurance classic in 1951. This historic appearance is complemented by elements from Manthey’s current vehicle designs in the WEC, nodding to the team’s own Le Mans story, which began 27 years ago. From a successful debut in 1999, marked by an immediate class victory, through further successes in the years that followed, to the most recent triumphs: with back-to-back class wins in the LMGT3 category, the team underlines its current strength at the 24-hour race in France.
“Another custom design in our anniversary year: we are delighted to be able to represent two special anniversaries – and, by extension, Porsche Motorsport – at Le Mans. The reference to Porsche’s first class victory at Le Mans marks the beginning of a unique success story, whilst the elements of our current cars show that we are actively shaping this story today,” explains Patrick Arkenau, Director Racing at Manthey Racing GmbH. “Le Mans has always been a integral part of Manthey’s history,” adds Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH. “From the class victory on our debut in 1999, which laid the foundation for our successful years with Porsche in works entry, right through to our current successes in the LMGT3 category. This design reflects not only our close connection to Porsche Motorsport, but also the continuity and significance of this race for our company.”
Manthey at Le Mans: three decades of success
Manthey’s six class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans date back to the 67th edition of the French endurance classic. Together with Uwe Alzen, Patrick Huisman and Luca Riccitelli, the team secured a class win at its French debut in a Porsche 911 GT3 R (996), car #81. Another milestone followed in 2013, the year of closer integration with Porsche AG: in its first season as the operational team for Porsche’s GT factory programme in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Manthey immediately secured victory in the LMGTE Pro category. In the years that followed, the team continued this success story, including further class wins in 2018 and 2022. Following the end of factory involvement in the GTE Pro category, Manthey returned to Le Mans under its own name with the introduction of the LMGT3 category in 2024. Both in its debut season and the following year, the team secured class victory as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship title.
The two cars bearing the numbers 91 and 92 will be seen on track for the first time during the official practice sessions on Sunday, 7 June. The Porsche 911 GT3 R entries will once again be driven by Manthey’s familiar FIA WEC driver line-ups for the 2026 season, consisting of James Cottingham, Timur Boguslavskiy and Ayhancan Güven (#91 Manthey DK Engineering), as well as Yasser Shahin, Riccardo Pera and Richard Lietz (#92 The Bend Manthey). The start of the 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place on 13 June at 16:00 CEST.
